Sindh Disaster Coordination Cell (SDCC)
Sindh Development Consortium is as a network of 12 civil society organizations working in different districts of Sindh. SDC was established on January 1, 2010 by signing an MOU to support each other towards achieving the shared vision of the stakeholders by putting joint efforts and sharing their information, resources and expertise. It is also aimed at scaling up the development interventions at provincial level as well as meets the emergency and disastrous situations with collective efforts and contributing resources.

Sindh Disaster Coordination Cell (Sukkur and Hyderabad) is established by Sindh Development Consortium (SDC; a network of 12 civil society organizations working in different districts of Sindh. The main objectives of this coordination cell is to provide the support to the members of SDC in their rescue, relief and rehabilitation activities and coordinate with other stakeholders including government departments, media, support organizations, donor agencies and philanthropist for effective and efficient planning and implementation to cope with the flood situation in Sindh

The Coordination Cell is supervised by the senior development professionals having vast experience of disaster management. A team of volunteers have been deployed at the cells for 24 hours to collect information from different sources including the volunteers engaged at the flood locations, NGOs monitoring cells, and electronic and print media. The team is developing update reports and sharing with all stakeholders by sending SMS, emails and flash reports on website.

Strategy for Emergency Response in Sindh:

The following strategy is developed by the members of Sindh Development Consortium for the Emergency Response in Sindh;

  • The first priority is to provide rescue services to the flood affected areas of Sindh.
  • Sharing of updates with the stakeholders including government departments, media, support organizations, donor agencies and philanthropist.
  • Situation analysis of the affected areas and sharing with all stakeholders.
  • Relief Camps to collect goods and cash for the affected population.
  • Provision of water, cooked food, food ration, kitchen utensils, hygienic kits and milk.
  • Medical camps to provide the basic health services to the affected population.
  • Availability of Anti Snake Venom (ASV) in all the medical camps and BHUs.
  • Provision of Shelters to the people living in open sky.
  • Joint monitoring committee to ensure the transparency and accountability in the emergency response activities conducted by its member organizations.
  • SDC will develop a plan and will allocate different areas to each its member organization considering their capacity and resources.
  • SDCC will keep the record of all the contributors and will inform them about SDC member's contribution to avoid any overlap and duplication of the resources.
  • All the rescue, relief and rehabilitation activities will be supervised and monitored by a Disaster Management Committee formed by SDC and implemented by the member organizations.
  • Coordination with all the relief agencies and organizations.
